PLEASE NOTE: The low cost of our inserts and rewraps is made possible by your participation in the Community Build where your inserts are built. All recipients of inserts or rewraps are expected to participate in one 4 hour shift per 1 – 5 inserts or rewraps regardless of payment. No experience needed. All simple skills are taught on-site. There are many different ways to participate for all levels of ability and mobility. Please check the Community Build page to sign up. Sign ups are usually available 1 – 2 months before the Community Build event.

How much does it cost?
Each insert is custom-priced based on the exact measurements of your window. Inserts generally pay for themselves in 1-2 heating seasons. Rewraps are $15 per insert.

I can't afford the full cost. What is the "Special Rate" program?
Our Special Rate program allows families who qualify for government assistance, LIHEAP, or other assistance programs or are low-income to receive around 10 PINE inserts for whatever they can afford to pay. If you would like to know more about this program, please include a comment in the inquiry form below or contact us at info@windowdressers.org. After your measuring appointment, the volunteer measuring team will be able to give you an estimate of your inserts and will work with you to identify an amount that works in your budget. This is worked out on a case-by-case basis with no minimum payment required in our special rate program.
What if I have inserts but they are damaged and need to be rewrapped?
If you have already have inserts from WindowDressers but they have been damaged and they need to be rewrapped, please complete the inquiry below and include the number of rewraps you need. Rewraps are $15 per insert being rewrapped and should be paid for in advance by check (mail to: WindowDressers, PO Box 1135, Rockland ME 04841) or online. Since rewraps are completed at the Community Build (along with new inserts), recipients of rewraps are expected to participate at the Community Build (one 4 hour shift per every 5 rewraps, with a minimum of one shift). If your inserts are from another company or DIY, please contact us directly at info@windowdressers.org.
What does it mean to participate in the Community Build?
In addition to building inserts, WindowDressers focuses on building community and having communities come together during a week long Community Build event. All recipients of inserts and rewraps are expected to participate in the community build, regardless of ability to pay or amount paid toward their order. Not only is participating fun, it helps us keep our prices low! Participation includes attending the community build and assisting in assembling the inserts or providing lunch for the volunteers/participants (in lieu of a four hour shift). Here’s an example of what to sign up for:
1 – 5 inserts or rewraps – one to two 4 hour shifts
6 – 10 inserts or rewraps – two to four 4 hour shifts
11 – 15 inserts or rewraps – three to five 4 hour shifts
We supply jigs and tools to make each step of assembly easy to learn – no experience is necessary. Each person will be trained at the beginning of their shift and there are many different ways to participate for all levels of ability and mobility.
