Changes at WindowDressers Board
WindowDressers would like to thank outgoing board members Sam Saltonstall, Casey Hess and Dick Tomeo for their incredible service.

Casey Hess was a Local Coordinator at the Unity Community Build in 2018 and then served on the board starting in 2019. Casey has joined the Board as a new Maine resident. Originally from Pennsylvania, Casey spent the majority of her career in the outdoor industry in Colorado. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Earth and Environmental Science as well as a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management. She is leaving Maine to for a new position in Alaska. We wish her all the best!
Sam Saltonstall has served on the WindowDressers Board since 2012 and as Board President since 2018. In 2021, he was awarded the Natural Resources Council’s People’s Choice Award for his dedication to climate activism. He has also served on the board of Interfaith Power and Light. As a former resident of Peaks Island, he tested the wind for a year with a University of Maine meteorological tower, helped organize the weatherization of 108 island homes, and organized collective purchases of 65 discounted heat pumps and 1,100 LED bulbs for his neighbors. Sam volunteers with the Citizens’ Climate Lobby and he’s an active member of the Neighborhood UCC Church in Bath where he’s helped implement energy efficiency.
Dick lives in South Thomaston with his wife Barbara. Dick has been a dedicated WindowDressers volunteer for many years, regularly helping cut wood at our production facility in Rockland, and serving as secretary of the Board. Before retiring to Maine from Connecticut, he was a partner in the New England regional law firm of Robinson & Cole, where he practiced tax law and represented nonprofit organizations over the course of a 41 year career. He has served on several nonprofit boards of directors, including the University of Connecticut Foundation, for which he was the Chairman. He is currently a director of the Friends of the Maine Seabird Islands.
Board member Jack Sumberg from Vermont was elected to succeed Sam as board president. We would also like to thank and welcome new board members – Amy Gamble, Madison Kremer, and & Nora Dulfilho. You can read all current board members’ bios here.
Please let us know if you are interested in serving on our Board! Our board work is interesting, engaging and remote. We gather 5-6 times a year on Zoom. Contact president@windowdressers.org to learn more.
