Presenter:  Sam Saltonstall

How frustrating our high energy costs have become.  And how easy it is to wring our hands and wish that we didn’t have a climate problem.  Solutions just seem too remote, too difficult to achieve, or too huge to deal with on a personal level.  Then along comes an unexpected bill in Congress last summer called the Inflation Reduction Act, which doesn’t even sound like it has anything to do with energy efficiency or climate change.  It plunks the challenge right back into our laps, and says, “Here.  You can help solve this.  Open your eyes to the energy savings available at home and on the road, make a plan, and get moving.”

About the presenter:  Sam was a WindowDressers Board member for ten years.  He is a retired school teacher who worked with the Island Institute on Peaks Island as an energy efficiency volunteer to get homes weatherized, form heat pump purchase groups, and implement an air sealing project and heating plant upgrade at the island school.  Sam moved off Peaks in 2016, and now makes his home in Brunswick, where he is Citizens’ Climate Lobby’s MidCoast South Chapter Leader.  He led the charge to get a solar system installed at his church in Bath, and is Coordinator of WindowDressers’ Brunswick Community Build.  Sam was winner of the 2021 Natural Resource Council of Maine’s People’s Choice Award.

      Hi Thomas,

The manufacturing facility is no longer in Rockland, but we are having a Community Build in Rockland this fall. Demand has been so high, that we are already full. If you want to order inserts, please click on the “Request Inserts” link at the top of our web page and fill out the form. That will get you onto the waitlist in case space opens up.

Can I get a copy of your presentation?

I don’t see that Efficiency Maine has approved the window inserts for an insulation rebate?
